More splashes of color and vibrant artwork are set to appear in Darwin’s CBD and suburbs as the Darwin Street Art Festival launches in 2022.
The Darwin Street Art Festival officially kicks off on August 12 in the suburbs, with the CBD area kicking off on August 26.
This year’s theme is “Looking Forward” and artists will contribute to the Festival through a variety of formats, including murals, exhibitions and a new augmented reality in the Darwin Street Art Festival app.
A number of temporary walls will appear throughout the Festival, as well as hidden artwork all around the CBD.
These temporary walls will be painted by emerging artists and there will also be new augmented reality pieces in the Street Art Festival app, bringing more of our works to life.
The Darwin Street Art Festival is an initiative funded by the Northern Territory Government, carried out by local company Proper Creative and administered by Activate Darwin.
This year, the Festival also received funding from the Regional Arts Fund to promote street art tours throughout the Northwest Territories.
Details of each artist involved in the Festival, including venues, will be released in the coming weeks.
