In 2024, the Joslyn will be a brand new museum, adding a new 42,000 square foot pavilion providing space for more art and more visitors. “We will have a spectacular brand new entrance that will be more welcoming, more accessible to the public. At the same time, the renovations to the gardens will somehow bring the outdoors in and feel like looking outside all year round,” said the general manager of the Joslyn Art Museum, said Jack Becker. Becker said that over the past decade, community ties have also grown, making the time for expansion more important than ever. “Attendance growth and growth in school programs and educational classes and family programs, as well as a growing collection,” Becker said. While having an impact in the city. “It will help contribute to the quality of life, build a better Omaha, and be a cornerstone of the arts for this community and beyond,” Becker said. He said while the doors were locked they were planning to bring the museum to you. “You’ll see us at the Riverfront at family festivals, you’ll see us in public libraries, you’ll see us online, we’ll find great ways to connect through the community,” Becker said. Celebrate their last open weekend by extending their hours, creating giveaways, sales and more. Say a temporary goodbye to the community. “We invite the entire community to come to the Joslyn Art Museum today before it closes for this major expansion and renovation.” The Joslyn will be open until 8 p.m. on May 1, 2022.
