Started by a local nonprofit, 2D4D, and taken over by the Tualatin Valley Creates organization last year, the La Strada festival brings artists together to create large chalk illustrations in the streets.
“The annual summer art festival…combines community engagement and art appreciation into one free and fun weekend,” the announcement from Tualatin Valley Creates reads.
Most chalk artwork averages around 10 square feet, the event’s website notes. While many exhibits are from local artists, previous years have featured artists from across the United States and even other countries.
In Hillsboro, artwork will be seen along Main Street East between First and Fourth Avenues. In addition to the chalk displays, there will also be live musical performances.
The event will also feature dozens of vendors, including local artisans and restaurants. It is free and open to the public.
