“The Luck of the Draw”
The Akron Art Museum will have a St. Patrick’s Day theme for its “Third Thursday: Luck of the Draw” event from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, featuring green-themed collectible games, a pop art exhibit -up by students and make-and-take activities. The event is free and open to all.
‘Virtuoso Bach & Vivaldi’
Apollo’s Fire will perform “Virtuoso Bach & Vivaldi” at 7.30pm on Tuesday at Bath Church United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Road, Bath Township. The program will include Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 and Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor for Two Violins. Spanish-born violinist Francisco Fullana, artist-in-residence this season, will also return to perform Bach’s Violin Concerto in D minor for the Bath concert. Tickets start at $22. ‘America/Beautiful’
Pianist Min Kwon will perform selections from her “America/Beautiful Project,” a collaboration with 75 American composers to write variations on “America The Beautiful,” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Kent State’s Ludwig Recital Hall as part of the Kent Keyboard series. The project, which was Kwon’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, reinvents the quintessential patriotic piece with ragtime, jazz, tango, Persian, Syrian, Indian, Jewish and other musical styles reflecting the diversity of the world. ‘America. ‘The dam’
The None Too Fragile Theater invites people to continue the St. Patrick’s Day celebration with its production of Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s “The Weir,” which begins Friday at 732 W. Exchange St., Akron, and runs until 2 April. In this 1997 play, set in a rural Irish pub, a group of men and a woman share supernatural stories rooted in Irish folklore. The cost is $30. DanceCleveland
Pam Tanowitz Dance and pianist Simone Dinnerstein will perform Tanowitz’s “New Work for Goldberg Variations” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mimi Ohio Theater at Playhouse Square, 1511 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.
DanceCleveland presents the 2017 dance work, which explores the musical architecture of Johann Sebastian Bach in a game of rhythm, style and idiosyncrasy. Pam Tanowitz, a graduate of Ohio State University and recipient of a Distinguished Alumni Award, is based in New York. She will give a pre-show conversation at 6:45 p.m. and a moderated Q&A with Dinnerstein after the performance.
